#11. Partaking to consigning of community

In the Dinnager block of Gurdaspur district lies a small village called Baheri. The village has a settlement of 97 households facing hardships for water. The supply is directed from a nearby village called Jharoli giving inefficient water supply. The technical and social team had a meeting with Gram panchayat and the whole village apprised them about the features of the scheme and about the work to be carried out in their village for the water supply scheme. Gram Panchayat and villagers responded positively to the scheme. The villagers supported Gram Panchayat in the collection of beneficiary share and collected Rs.53000/-. The scheme work started and with an approximate cost of Rs.38 Lac, the scheme was ready and it was commissioned in 2019. GPWSC committee was formed of 11 members. 100% connections were ascertained for the village. The villagers supported the social team in controlling water wastage and unanimously supported Gram panchayat in supplying water 24×7. The consumers have also supported the scheme by regular and timely payment of bills. The transparent system of records maintenance and bookkeeping helped in building trust among the community. GPWSC has a saving of Rs.20,000/- The consumers especially women are very satisfied and happy with the scheme. The GPWSC along with the consumers are running the water supply scheme successfully.
